Back Home (but posting last day, Hong Kong)

When we left for Hong Kong what a sad sad day. There was a mix up with some paperwork that was thought to be lost of another family (when in actuality it was mistakenly given to another family who had it in their document bag), so we didn't get a chance to say a proper goodbye to our amazing guide Veronica. Poor Veronica was so upset because she thought it was her fault that she cried and cried and couldn't speak. We felt awful that was the last thing that happened after our amazing time with her.

We traveled by train to Hong Kong and got to see parts of the countryside of China. How different than what we were exposed to, saw such poverty. So sad how some people
have to live.

Once we got to Hong Kong, things were so different than what we experienced in China. The people there appear to be much ruder than China, no such thing as personal space nor standing in any lines, and the hotel was not very accommodating (we had to wait over an hour for the crib to be delivered after my having to call the front desk numerous times, it was late and Chynna was beyond tired as it was well after her bedtime and they insisted it would be delivered right away every time I spoke to them). Maybe I was just ready to start the trek home.

The next day we did, and what an amazing little traveler our Chynna is. She did a great job on the long trip back to the States, but was so tired. I felt so bad, our friends Cyndi and Dean were there to meet us, first we get lost trying to find them, and they were there waiting with a gorgeous sign welcoming Chynna home and had a camera ready, but we didn't get to give them that joy of surprising us. We had to call them and they had to find us. Oh well, guess we'd never do well on the Amazing Race. We had a fantastic visit we got to have with them, but Chynna was freaking out and I felt bad for Cyndi and Dean. I just think she was overly tired, since as soon as we made it through security waiting on our plane she fell right to sleep.

There was definitely a difference in the flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco than the one from San Francisco back home. On the long flight from Hong Kong everyone was so accommodating to the babies getting us whatever we needed if we needed anything. However the shorter flight back here in the States, well let's just say we felt like we were the unwanteds on the plane. Not accommodating and just plain awful, but we made it back home. Dorothy had it right, there is no place like home.

We had some other friends (Don, Be, and J. Mei) who met us at the airport. Had a great visit with them, and Chynna (after sleeping lots on the short flight) was a much happier baby. Once Dad, my brother and my sister in law picked us up at the airport, she was all smiles and giggles for my family (including my aunt, cousin, and her brother who were anxiously waiting at home for us to finally arrive at home).

Chynna has adjusted really well and quite quickly to the new time and doesn't appear to be suffering from the jet lag (can't really say that 100% of Mom, lol). She's an amazing little girl, and we are so blessed that she is now officially part of our family. This has been the best journey ever. Now we will begin another journey, the journey of life with two amazing children.

Day Twelve (Consulate Appt, Pearl Market, White Swan Red Couch Pictures, and Medicine Street)

What a day today. We awoke to a dreary rainy day, and it stayed that way all day. But we weren't going to let that rain on our parade. We had lots of things planned for today, and no rain was gonna keep us from completing our agenda.

First we went to our consulate appointment. No cameras were allowed, so we took a few pictures of Chynna in her adorable outfit. The consulate appointment is basically a swearing in ceremony where you stand in for your child and swear the documents you've completed to that point have been true and correct. Once that was done, Chynna is now officially our daughter in the U.S. eyes. As soon as she steps on U.S. soil in San Francisco she is officially a U.S. citizen. What an amazing process.

Funny side note (to my family, they will get a kick out of this): Like I said it was raining, well when we got off the bus, I told mom to hurry out of the rain, and as we weren't allowed to bring strollers into the consulate, I was carrying Chynna in my flip flops that I wear a lot. Ray was basically running ahead of Mom. Well I hit a slick spot on the pavement, lost my footing and as one of the girls in our group said, I fell in complete slow motion (and quite gracefully too I'm told). Meanwhile all I could think of was don't drop Chynna. And I didn't, but I got quite wet on one leg but Chynna was safe the entire time, not a drop of wetness got on her and she stayed safely in my arms. Mom keeps saying it's karma for the Haiti incident....I still think her Haiti incident was funnier than my mishap today.

Anyway, after we were done there, we came back to the hotel til the afternoon. But then we were off in the rain again, this time to the closed White Swan for pictures. What fun that was. The other babies would start crying and trying to scoot off the couch and Chynna would look at them like, what's wrong with you. Then we were off to the medicine street, where they sell all kinds of things for any ailment from dried sea horses, to live scorpions, to snakes, and chickens, and ducks, and turtles, you name it they sell it. Ray and I feel adventurous and we ate some black ants (tasted like charcoal, or what I would imagine charcoal would taste like, hehe). I didn't get to eat my scorpion on a stick or a starfish, oh well.

We also got to experience the pearl market. This is a 5 story building with all wholesale jewelers selling gems. Amazing is all I can say. Then finally we went back to Shamian Island to shop some more and to eat at Lucy's.

Tomorrow we get Chynna's visa, and take the bullet train to Hong Kong. Last stop til we leave for home. We are so close now, and beyond ready to begin our trek back home and to our friends and family whom we miss so very much.

Day Eleven (Yuexiu Park)

Today was another fantastic day. We have been so blessed with the best weather since we've been here. I understand that we are blessed beyond belief that we came this time of year because other times of the year it is soooo hot. Well today was hot, like back home type of hot. It is also quite humid here, so it's not a dry heat like in Jiangxi.

We went to Yuexiu Park today. What a beautiful park it was. Chynna slept through most of the time we were there, hence why there weren't many pictures of her today, but alas the princess did awaken towards the end of the stroll through the park and made her presence known through some pictures. We were "stars" by some Chinese people too. And let me tell you, they don't hide the fact they are curious by us westerns. They openly stare and point and talk about you in front of your face. It is really a strange feeling. We did bring some Disney stickers that we hand out to some of the children here, and although the children don't know what to make of us giving them things, their parents/grandparents are quite excited that we gave them a present. Mom also got quite a few people talking about her I think since she was wearing a shirt that says Wa Po which is grandmother on mother's side. It made her feel quite uncomfortable to be talked about since she didn't know exactly what they were saying. I just told her they couldn't believe someone so young was a grandmother, hehe. Oh well, gotta come up with something they were saying cuz we don't know for sure.

Today I took lots of pictures, so enjoy them as we did. You can tell how much fun we had and how pretty all the scenery was.

Tomorrow is our consulate appointment, a stroll down a Chinese Medicine street, a trip to the pearl market, and then another visit to Shamian Island. Busy day tomorrow. Can't take pictures at the consulate appointment, but will take pictures of the rest of the day and will post more then. We are so close to heading home.

Day Ten (Chen Family Temple)

Had another amazing day here in Guangzhou. The skies were beautiful and the weather was like back home, hot and humid. Wish we would've known the weather was gonna be so hot, would've brought more weather appropriate clothing. Oh well, live and learn.

Today we visited the Chen Family Temple, what gorgeous architecture. So glad we were able to be able to visit and so we may share this knowledge of all the amazing things we are learning with Chynna when she gets older.

Also today, we met a few Chinese people who wanted to know our daughter's new english name and when we told them what her name was and the spelling, they were quite honored that I would name my daughter Chynna, saying how much they loved it, and how much she would love it, and what a beautiful name for such a beautiful little girl. This made us quite happy to know that despite all the controversy that we have received from the online adoptive community, that there was support of from the Chinese community. What a blessing that was, and will be treasured in our hearts forever.

Day Eight and Nine (Leaving Nanchang and Medical Exam in Guangzhou)

These past few days have been really bittersweet. Yesterday was just a travel day and hang around the hotel doing paperwork day. We left Jiangxi and Chynna had her first plane ride. She did amazing. I was sad for her leaving her hometown, but happy we are one step closer to bringing her home.

Today we had the long awaited medical exam. How funny that is. Chynna did ENT (which consisted of a doctor playing a piano on Chynna's left side to see if she would turn her head that way, then squeezing a squeaky toy in her right ear to see if she turned that way. Passed with flying colors. The doctor then looked in her ears (she hated that) and in her mouth. Passed again. Off to the height, weight, measurements section. I remember she weighs 8.8 kg which converts to 19.4 lbs, but the other measurements I don't remember. Then off to the physical exam. The doctor there indicated Chynna has multiple mongolian spots, but is otherwise okay.

After the medical exam, we headed shopping and just looking around Shamian Island. We shopped at Jordan's and then ate at Lucy's. Afterwards we left the Island, shopped at Carafour for diapers, formula, bottles, etc.

All in all, it was a long day, but a good one. Tomorrow we go to the Chen Family Temple, and some more shopping. Will post more later. Until then enjoy the pictures.

Day Seven (Xiang Hu Park aka Elephant Lake Park and Porcelain Store)

Today was another great day. We were quite fortunate as the weather is amazingly beautiful. We got to go the government controlled porcelain store, and they had some really amazing things, such talent. As you may know, Chynna's province of Nanchang is known for their porcelain. We got her a porcelain bracelet for when she gets older. Then we went to the Xiang Hu Park also known as the Elephant Lake Park. The lake there is supposedly in the shape of an elephant, but we couldn't tell. At the park we also visited a Daoist Temple. The Daoists are naturalists, and how beautiful everything was there. We really enjoyed looking at all the sights, it was all just breathtaking. Daoism represents only a very small percentage of the religions in China, most have no religion, but those that do are either Communist, Buddist, or Catholic. Tomorrow we do some paperwork, receive Chynna's passport, and then we are off to Guangzhou in the evening. So for now, enjoy the photos. Until next time.

Day Six (Touring Teng Weng Ge)

Today we went and toured Teng Weng Ge Pavilion, what a beautiful place. We really enjoyed it. The pictures below show some of the beautiful scenery we've seen today. However as a few have asked about the view from our room, I've included the first few pictures which show the view from our room. We are up on the 11th floor, and no we do not have the view of any pavilions nor temples. Enjoy the photos.

P.S. Cyndi, the headband was a huge success today, everyone thought it was the best headband they have ever seen, and Chynna loved having it on (after we got her used to it, lol), she sometimes would pull it over her eyes and it looked like a sleep mask on her, it's a fun game she would play. Thanks again for it!!

Day Five (Halloween Night, Notary and Walmart)

Last night was Chynna's first Halloween. She was a trooper in her ladybug outfit, she wore it out to dinner and looked darling in it. She also helped deliver the Halloween candy to the other new parents in our group who adored the chocolate.

This morning we went to the notary, and I guess it was there I realized how extremely tired I am. The notary asked how old I was, and I couldn't for the life of me remember how old I was. And the funnier thing was Ray couldn't remember how old he was either, I think it's because I shocked him by not remembering how old I am, lol. It was quite funny, but told the notary our birth dates and he laughed at our stupidity at math trying to figure it out. I was so embarrassed, but I guess they've encountered that a few times because he wasn't taken aback by it.

Anyway, we went from there and walked to the Walmart. It was interesting. It was a three story building, the first floor was just other stores, the second floor was the first floor of the Walmart which had food grocery items and then the third floor had the baby items. We bought a stroller, a diaper changing pad, a thermos, chinese cheerios/crackers, and a baby bowl and spent a total of $42.68US. We were thrilled.

Chynna's been doing really well adjusting to her new family. She's bonding with us really well, right now preferring me over everyone, but still going to Ray and also to my mom. She laughs and smiles lots which makes my heart sing with joy that she's such a happy well adjusted baby. She's enjoying new foods, sights, and friends and taking it all in as much as she can. She's quite the observant one.

Day Three (Gotcha Day) and Day Four (Finalization of Chinese Adoption)

What an amazing few days. All the days are starting to blur together as one, and we usually have no idea what day it is or the actual date (I just realized it's Halloween, will have to dress Chynna up later).

She has been an amazing baby. What a day yesterday was. We got up early as we had to meet down in the lobby at 5:30 a.m. to head to the airport, it was Gotcha Day after all. We were supposed to have a 7:40 a.m. flight out of Beijing to Nanchang, but unfortunately after we loaded our plane, the fog rolled in, and it was so thick you couldn't even see the planes on either side of us sitting really close to us. We ended up sitting on the plane for over 4 hours waiting for air traffic control to release us and for the fog to finally roll out. And then we were in the air, on the way to our daughter's province. The pilot did an amazing job and made up some time in the air, and we finally landed. But due to the lateness of our arrival, we were really cutting it short on time. We arrived at the hotel and as we were checking in we could hear our babies crying but couldn't determine where or I think they would have had a stampede on their hands of the anxious parents wanting to finally see and hold their precious ones, I know I wanted to run towards that fabulous noise. But yet I had to restrain myself and head up to our room to meet back down in 10 minutes for the ceremony. We received our bags, I dumped the suitcases to find Chynna's lovey, and some dolls to take down in case she was upset. And then we flew as fast as our feet would carry us down the elevator to the meeting room. We were allowed in the room and there were our precious baby girls. I looked at Chynna at first and thought I recognized her, but then another baby girl was holding her key ring we sent in the care package so I got really confused, and like a bad mommy had convinced myself that was our Chynna, but in reality my good friend Kim had already told me,, no that is not your Chynna, the first baby was and she was right. My adorable baby girl was the first one I had thought (silly key ring for confusing this easily confused mommy, lol). The time came to deliver the babies. We were second, and she came right to me, happy as a clam. I did scare her a bit when I tried to give her kiss and she immediately pulled back and started whimpering a bit, so I backed off and spoke the little bit of mandarin I learned while waiting (hello, don't cry, and I love you). She looked at me quite funny but quit whimpering and started to feel my face after insisting that I take my glasses off so she could look into my eyes. She was quite fascinated with my nose, she would pull it, tug it, and grasp it anyway she could, but I didn't care. After all this time I was finally holding my Chynna. She stayed happy and went down easy for bed the first time. But after about half an hour to hour she woke up and was confused and seemed scared and missing the only home she's known, her foster family. She wouldn't allow me to sit and hold her, we had to keep right on walking, so we did, around the room and in the halls, with her just trying to throw herself backwards and crying off and on. After some hours of this I had to sit down, to lay down myself to sleep, so I woke Ray and he took over and got her right to sleep after walking her in the hall some singing to her. And alas at about 11:30 p.m., she finally was asleep for the night. This morning I had to wake her up as we had to have breakfast before our appointment at the civil affairs office. We got her dressed, had breakfast (she ate some eggs, congee, watermelon, peach), and headed over to the civil affairs office to finalize the adoption. Chynna loved the bus ride over, we got there and went in, waited our turn, answered some questions, got our family picture taken, paid our fees and donation, and then it was finalized. She's ours in the eyes of China. We still have a ways to go til we head home, but we are enjoying our time here in China and loving the time with our baby girl. Day Two in China: Beijing

What a day, long but amazing. Got to see some great things from Tiananmen Square to Forbidden City to climbing the Great Wall. Went to the Jade Factory and ate at a great restaurant. Took a while to put these pictures up, so I'll close for now so you can see the pictures. Sorry they are backwards, newest ones are first, oh well I'll get the hang of this soon.

Tomorrow will be an early day, out in the lobby by 5:15 am, fly out to Nanchang at 7:40 am, arrive in Nanchang about 10:30ish, prepare to finally be handed Chynna at 3:30 pm. I will post updates and pictures again in Nanchang if I am able to connect to the internet. Please pray that Chynna has as smooth of a transition as possible. She will be leaving her foster family tomorrow to travel to the orphanage to then be brought to the hotel to her new Forever Family. It's definitely gonna be a long sad day for her and her Foster Family.

Sitting in Hotel in Beijing

Well we made it to Beijing safe and sound. It was a really long flight, I know others have said it was a long flight but until you experience sitting in a chair for so long you just don't fully appreciate what they are telling you. I did sleep some off and on on the plane but sleeping sitting up is not that comfortable, and they feed you soooo much food, it feels like they are either giving you something to eat or something to drink for the whole 13 hour flight. Our guide was right there waiting for us when we finally found our luggage in the luggage carrier, and she whisked us away to the hotel. Riding in a car in Beijing, I'm sorry but quite scary, the road lines appear to only be suggestions. All the cars were driving wherever there was an empty space, and as close to the car in front of them I doubt a piece of paper would fit between their bumpers, but thank goodness we made it to the hotel without an accident. Another fun story (Dad you'll appreciate this) Mom's really big luggage (which is really hers and my clothes) that Mom was insisting we didn't bring because it always gets checked, got checked. She was upset that it happened again, but my thoughts are what difference does it make, she's not carrying anything she shouldn't be, so who cares what they look at. Also, on our way to the grocery store to buy bottled water, I almost got run over by a McDonald's delivery guy on a bicycle on the sidewalk, guess he had more right to the sidewalk than me. I learned my lesson, watch out for the bicyclists cuz they don't look out for you. No pictures yet, but hope to have some up after our tours tomorrow. Waiting in the airport

Well here we are, early, waiting at that airport. Got thru security checkpoints really quick (which is a big change from last time we flew out of here). Everyone we've spoken with at the airport has been amazing. Hoping by telling them the reason we are flying will get us some perks, you know like maybe upgraded to first class (hey a girl can dream right???). So far so good on the internet connections, but we are still in Florida, so we'll see how I do getting us back online once we land and are settled in our room in Beijing. I'll try to post again once we land in Chicago (we do have a 2 hour layover), but if not, we'll see you all on the flip side!!!

Leaving for the airport in a few hours

Here it is 3:25 a.m. after I went to bed at 12:45 a.m. after last minute packing (for myself and my mom, Chynna's been packed for a few days), and I am wide awake. My head spinning. Is it excitement (yes), and fear (yes), and worry (YES YES YES)? I am beyond excited, I am fearful of being a new mom again (I know I'll do just fine, but how will she feel? The trama Chynna is going through scares me, will I be able to console her right away and take her fears right away?) And I worry, have I packed everything? Is our luggage within the required weight limits (even though we have weighed it and weighed it)? Will the peanut remember me when I come home or be resentful I've left him for 2 weeks? All if know for sure is all will go okay, things will be as they should, and I should get as much rest as I can. So I guess I better go and lay back down and try to sleep a little more.

I promise to post as much as I can to journal this amazing journey to an amazing little girl who's been a huge part of our family for many many years!

Little over 24 hours til we are off......

In a little over 24 hours we will be boarding the plane to begin our journey to Chynna, it will be a long flight, but well worth it. Can't wait to meet online friends in person and give them hugs as well as see friends we miss dearly (Cyndi and Dean), finally get to hold Chynna and kiss her little face, climb the amazing Great Wall, and just experience all the amazing things China has to offer so we can share them with Chynna.....let the journey begin (of course after I finish packing)....

9 days til we leave for China, 12 days til Chynna is finally in my arms....

Every emotion possible is running through me, happiness, excitement, fear, nervousness, sadness.....I feel like I have a rainbow of emotions. One minute I'll be happily telling you about my baby girl, the next I could be crying and not knowing exactly why. Then I may become fearful about not already being with my little girl, what if she's sick, what if she's already been taken to the orphanage and away from her foster family, is she sad, does she know how much her life is about to change? This then makes me sad for her and for her foster family as I know how much she has been loved by them and I know how hard it is gonna be for the foster family to let her go. Then I get nervous, what if I don't know what to ask the orphanage director, what if I don't make her bottle the way she likes it and she doesn't eat. But after all those emotions, I think, I can do this, I've been preparing for this moment for almost 6 years and finally I will have my Chynna, and the happiness comes back!!

Oct 27: leave Orlando at 9:14 a.m. for Chicago on United Airlines (UA399) and then leave Chicago at 1:00 p.m. (UA851) to arrive in Beijing the next day at 3:15 p.m.
Oct 29: Staying at Poly Plaza Hotel. Tour the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square
Oct 30: leave Beijing at 7:30 a.m. for Nanchang arriving at 10:15 a.m. We are staying at JinFeng Hotel in Nanchang for the next 6 nights.
Oct 30: Chynna's GOTCHA DAY FINALLY!
Oct 31: Civil affairs office to complete some paperwork.
Nov. 1: Apply for Chynna's passport/shopping.
Nov. 2: Tour Teng Weng Ge.
Nov. 3: Tour Xiang Hu Park.
Nov. 4: Obtain Chynna's passport, then fly to Guangzhou at 7:30 p.m., arrive in Guangzhou at 8:50 p.m. We are staying at China Marriott.
Nov 5: Get Chynna's visa photo taken, Chynna's medical exam

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Yesterday we got our long awaited Consulate Appointment and were able to get with the Travel Agency and book our International Flights.....

We leave on October 27th, arrive on the 28th, tour Beijing the 29th, fly to Jiangxi on the 30th and most likely this will be GOTCHA DAY!!, we have our Consulate Appointment on Nov 8th, take the train to Hong Kong on the 9th, and start the never ending day of the 10th by flying from Hong Kong to San Francisco to back home.

In the next day or so, we will get our Intra-China travel itinerary from our awesome travel advisor so we will know where we will be staying, etc. then.

Hold on Chynna, mommy, daddy, and ga-ga are on their way!!

Woo hoo, we got an email from our agency congratulating us on completing the referral phase of the adoption, and indicating we have now moved on to the travel phase.

What does this mean you may ask? Well, it means we have seen our Chynna (she is gorgeous), learned some information about her (which we are quite excited to know), and are just now waiting for our travel approval while we gather all our documents needed to travel. We are still a little ways out from going to China, but are hoping we will be traveling maybe the first week in November (thanks to the trade show in China our travel will be a little delayed).

Hold on baby girl, we are trying to move Heaven and Earth to get there, and with the help of our travel advisor and our agency, it'll be here before we know it (at least I hope so)!!

Got notification from Ann of Red Thread today that she purchase the care package for Chynna we ordered, and she will be delivering it to her in the next few days. Let's hope she is able to get updated photos of her when she delivers the package to her and her foster mother.

The Call

One week ago today I got "the call"...the call that forever changed our lives, the call for which we have been waiting for over 5 years, the call introducing us to our daughter.

The day started as every other Monday starts. I awoke at 6:30 a.m., checked my email and facebook, and at 7:00 a.m. I checked Rumor Queen (she seems to do her updates about that time every weekday). No rumors. The week before I did get an email from our agency indicating we should hear something by mid-week. Okay, so off to work I go.

Once I got to work, I would periodically check my email on my cell phone to see if anyone had heard anything. Nothing. Then, I get this notice from one of my friends who is also adopting and has the same LID as we do (Miss K) at 11:02 a.m. (I checked it at 11:04 a.m.). I immediately start panicking. I call my mom, don't think real words were even formed at that time. I read to her the email I got from Miss K, not even thinking to check my email. While on the phone with mom, I check Rumor Queen and nothing, no notice. So I check my email from our agency and it's true. The Stork had landed, we received our referral, and they were working to scan the pictures.

At that point I couldn't think, no way could I work. I tried to distract myself. I notified the girls at work that this was it, this was the day and they were to be on stand by. I knew my agency was gonna call me, but didn't know what time. I immediately had to go pee, but was afraid, what if they called me and I was in the bathroom peeing (yeah, that would be my luck). Time started dragging for more than one reason (I wanted to see her soooo bad and my bladder was sooo full).

I was then told by one of the girls at work (Miss A) that I was not to be left alone, no matter where I went I had to have someone around. It was hilarious. Miss H, Miss L, and Miss A were just as nervous as I was, and I love them for it.

I called Ray and told him today was the day and texted my brother and sister. It was just a matter of time.

Well, went to lunch (the cell phone was in my hand the whole time, making it hard to eat, but yeah I wasn't that hungry from being so nervous) and still nothing (and no I still hadn't peed at this point), got back from lunch and waited some more.

Then at 2:03 p.m., the call came. Luckily I was in Miss H and Miss A's office, which is where we planned on the delivery call to be (phew, one thing going as planned). I immediately had a calm come over me, but Miss A grabbed my cell phone from me, put it on speaker phone so I "didn't accidently hang up the phone" (which is what I thought may happen), and Beth told us her name, DOB, her province and her orphanage, and she sent us the email. Miss A opened the email and we all screamed in joy, so exciting. Our supervisor Miss T came running in and said "keep it down in here, it sounds like you are giving birth" (of course she knew we were getting the call, but that brought both laughter and embarrassment by me). So many emotions, such excitement.

I went back to my desk excited, scared, nervous, but most of all happy!! Oh yeah, and then after all those hours, I finally went pee.

I've finally "met" my little girl, the baby I've been waiting for all these years, my daughter born in my heart almost 6 years ago, and I've seen her. I called everyone and shared the news, forwarded the email, and rejoiced the rest of the day (and every day since).

Now we just sit back and wait (we are getting quite good at this) until they tell us we can come to China and get our sweet Chynna!! Just hold on a little longer sweet pea, we're coming for you (and that time can't get here quick enough). We love you!

The Fed Ex Man arrived yesterday

We were delivered our "package" yesterday by the Fed Ex man. I truly surprised him when I told him he just delivered my baby (probably freaked him out more than surprised). It was so exciting and everyone in my office was thrilled to read the documents about Chynna when we received the translations. As always in this journey, the time can't come quick enough!! We're coming Chynna.....

A few days after seeing our beautiful Chynna's face, I am still on cloud nine. She is the cutest, and I am soooo excited now to receive our TA (Travel Approval) and CA (Consultate Appointment) so we can start on the next part of our journey, the journey to bring our baby girl home!!

OMG!! I am sooo excited, nervous, happy, freaking out....I got word this morning that our referral has arrived and we will finally after all these years "meet" our Chynna. Without yet receiving the call, we know this much information:

She is somewhere between 8 and 10 months (yes she is young) and she is from Jiangxi province.

Once I get the call and receive pictures, more info will be posted, but until then, OMG!!

This has got to be the week

Well, another week, and no news yet. However, since the end of August is this week, we are thinking this has got to be it. In the past few months, the referrals have been arriving by the end of the month, so this week.

In the meantime, a forbidden word has reared its ugly head tonite, PAPERWORK. Our agency has sent us some paperwork that will need to be returned with our acceptance papers, so I filled them out to the best of my ability (with some information remaining blank until we receive Chynna's referral). I know, I know. Once we get our referral, the awful PAPERWORK will once again be on the forefront, but the good news is it will be over once we get home, at least for a while.

We hope our next post will be that RQ will have heard that the calls will soon begin, confirming referrals are arriving in the U.S. Come on stork, fly fast!!

Late in the day today I received an email from one of the girls in my LID facebook group that Rumor Queen had updated and apparently China has begun working on matches??? WHAT DID MY EYES JUST SEE??? So off to Rumor Queen's website I go, and what do I see:

Rumors starting to float around, and National Junk Food Day

Well, the rumors that the CCAA are starting to make the matches are starting to float around the internet (okay on Rumor Queen's website, and thus the adoption community is starting to talk about it)....so guess who's back on the emotional roller coaster, putting her heart on the line to hopefully not be crushed that once again not only are we not included in this batch, but that the CCAA didn't do but a few days...that's right ME. I just know in my heart though that we may possibly be included in this batch, the Rumor Queen numbers seem to make sense that we will in this batch and finally see her face and learn who she is, but I'm secretly scared this won't be the case again, and thus our waiting to see her/meet her will keep increasing. Come on CCAA, please don't make me wait too much longer, I (along with my family and friends) want to finally meet Chynna, please help us make that a reality.

On another note, I just learned that today is National Junk Food Day. What is this day you may ask. Well, here's what I learned:

Finally getting closer

Well we are getting closer to seeing our little girl's face, and we can't wait. It has been a long road, but I know it is all in God's timing. The CCAA now known as the CCCWA is working on matching and the last matching process was through June 20, 2006. So almost 5 years later since our LID (and 5 1/2 years since we started the process), we are very close to seeing her face. I'm guessing about 3-5 more months.

In the meantime, we will start some more fundraising, so stay tuned for posts on those. However, if you can donate (any amount), it would be greatly appreciated. Costs are on the rise, and any help, any amount, is appreciated. I have added a chip in button on the side and also a donate button.
